Christmas Spritz Cookies Recipe

These vibrant and colorful cookies are the perfect treat to place on your kitchen counter during the holidays. Spritz cookies are known for their buttery quality and lovely appearance. Not only do they look wonderful, but they taste wonderful too! This is a simple and easy recipe to create your own. Here’s what you’ll need before you get started:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg yolk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • food coloring (optional)

  • cookie press

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Find a baking sheet and place parchment paper on top.

  2. Grab the butter and sugar and mix together in a large bowl until light and fluffy - make sure to beat the butter as well. Once finished, add the vanilla extract and egg yolk and beat until well mixed.

  3. Now, in a different bowl, mix the salt and flour with a whisk. Slowly add this flour mixture to the butter and sugar mixture until a dough develops. If you’d like to create a certain color cookie, now would be the time to add food coloring.

  4. Grab your cookie press and fill with the mixed dough. Press the cookies onto the baking sheet using whichever design shape template you’d like.

  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Monitor the cookies and take them out once the edges are golden brown.

  6. Once the cookies are done, let them cool for 2-3 minutes before moving to a wire rack where they will cool for longer.

  7. Once the cookies have cooled down, decorate them with icing and sprinkles if you’d like.

I hope you enjoy these Spritz cookies as much as my family and I do! If you’d like to make the recipe more interesting, you can add almond extract or lemon. More than anything, make sure to play some holiday tunes and have fun making them with your family. Enjoy & have a very Merry Christmas!
